Giovanna Mabanta
The main focus of my work is on self-development with a view towards finding meaning in our lives, in our relationships, and in the world. My aim is to facilitate individuals’ life journeys, accompanying them in learning to love their questions. I work with people who have gone through all sorts of human crises, shining light on essential events as a potential for growth. Mostly, we live with much untapped potential - I aim to help clients free some of this potential, take hold of their power, enliven their daily lives, and find calm, courage and confidence for the future.
After training as an architect and product designer, and living and working in other countries, I moved to London in 1996, to start a family. After my own life crisis and consequent search for meaning, I trained as a Biographical Counsellor with the Biography and Social Development Trust. The Diploma Course in Biographical Counselling was accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) in 2009. I completed further training in Visual Arts and Sculpture at Emerson College. More recently, I trained in Dornach, Switzerland at the Plastikschule amb Goetheanum, mainly focussing on therapeutic clay work. My artistic trainings continue to bring creative energies into my counselling practice. I believe that the artist in each of us is always able to develop our humanity further, throughout our lives.
I am certified, and have been working with private clients under supervision since 2005. I am a registered member of the BACP, and a member and council member of the Professional Association for Biographical Counsellors (PABC), and abide by their Professional Codes of Ethics.
